Your privacy, plainly explained
This page explains what information Toolkitly collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have around it. No legal jargon we can avoid.
1 Information we collect
We collect information in a few different ways, depending on how you use Toolkitly:
- Account information — name, email address, and password (stored securely, never in plain text) when you register or sign in with Google.
- Listing information — details you submit when listing a tool, including tool name, description, pricing, screenshots, and category.
- Payment information — handled directly by Razorpay for listing payments; we never store your card or bank details on our servers.
- Usage data — pages visited, searches performed, and votes or reviews you leave, used to improve rankings and recommendations.
- Technical data — IP address, browser type, and device information, collected automatically for security and analytics.
2 How we use it
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account, and authenticate your logins
- Process tool submissions, edits, and listing payments
- Personalize search results, categories, and recommendations
- Send account-related emails (submission status, payment receipts, security alerts)
- Detect and prevent fraud, spam, and abuse — including automated bot protection at signup
- Understand how the directory is used so we can improve it
We do not sell your personal information to advertisers or data brokers.
3 Cookies & tracking
Toolkitly uses cookies and similar technologies for a few specific purposes:
| Purpose | Example |
|---|---|
| Keeping you signed in | Session cookie tied to your account |
| Security | CSRF protection tokens, bot-verification checks |
| Preferences | Remembering filters or display settings |
| Analytics | Understanding which tools and categories are popular |
You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the site — like staying logged in — may not work correctly without them.
4 Third-party services
We rely on a small number of trusted third parties to run Toolkitly, and each only receives the data it needs to do its job:
- Razorpay — processes listing payments; handles your payment details directly, we never see or store full card numbers.
- Cloudflare Turnstile — verifies you're not a bot during registration and login.
- Google Sign-In — an optional way to register or log in using your Google account, if you choose to use it.
Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data.
5 Data sharing
Outside of the third-party services listed above, we don't share your personal information with anyone except:
- When required to comply with a legal obligation, court order, or government request
- To protect the rights, property, or safety of Toolkitly, our users, or the public
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets — in which case you'd be notified before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy
6 Data retention
We keep account and listing data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we retain a limited amount of information for legal, accounting, and fraud-prevention purposes for a reasonable period afterward, then delete or anonymize it.
7 Your rights & choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or outdated information
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Object to or restrict certain kinds of processing
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
To exercise any of these rights, reach out through our Contact page and we'll respond within a reasonable timeframe.
8 Data security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted password storage, secure session handling, and account lockout protections after repeated failed login attempts. That said, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
9 Children's privacy
Toolkitly is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we'll remove it.
10 Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as Toolkitly evolves. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and where appropriate, notify you directly.
